Hey everyone this is my first time posting to a forum so please excuse me if it isn't correctly put.

The title explains my problem but here it is anyway. My computer rebooted and then started coming up with the message: 'Reboot and select proper Boot device'

Now from what I understand this means that the computer is unable to detect a boot-able OS. I am silly and haven't yet created a windows recovery disk or flash drive. I am sure this issue has been posted about before if so can someone please direct me to the thread.

However my question is, is there a way I can get a recovery utility of some kind off the net so that I can get the computer to detect the boot-able OS ?

Thanks in advance.

Reboot and start tapping the delete key, F2 or F12 key to get into your BIOS. Once in your BIOS set the boot device the HDD that has the OS loaded on it, save and exit out and reboot.

Thank you Bass, but i have tried all of that and nothing works I think it may have to do with the fact that the SSD and HDD and classed as the same thing in the boot menu.

Is this a OEM manufacturer's PC with Windows 8 Pre-install?

Are you booting the Windows 8 Recovery disk in UEFI mode?

Is the first Boot device set to Windows Boot Manager?

How do I set it to windows boot manager I don't have that option in my BIOS ?

And in UEFI mode the computer doesn't read the disk in the other mode it does but it can't detect the operating system?

I am really confused now.

Check the boot order in the UEFI/BIOS.

My Bios doesn't have anything like that sorry, the only thing that is similar to your picture is the Realtek PXE :S

There is no windows boot device only my ODD HDD/SSD USB they are the only options I have for a boot order.

The HDD/SSD is first the ODD is second and the USB is third. I have tried changing the boot order nothing works. Even putting the ODD first with the recovery disk in and trying to boot with UEFI mode still won't recognise the disk or the HDD, doesn't seem to matter what I do.

Sorry I maybe should of mention I am talking about a laptop, I can't actually pull the HDD out. Also the Toshiba utility doesn't come as an ISO file >.< So i can't burn the image to be boot-able is there something I missing ?

The SeaTools wouldn't boot in UEFI mode however it will boot in the other mode CSM I think it was. When I run SeaTools though it can't find any Hard Drives. Does this mean that it just can't find it in that boot mode or that my hard drive has been physically disconnected somehow ?

Remove the HDD, than refit, & retest.

Won't that effect my warranty if I open up the laptop? This computer is like a month old, would it be better to just send it back for warranty repairs ?

Using the warranty for repairs, is always a good idea.

I had a problem like this with a new ASUS laptop, when I tried to change the boot order in the BIOS. It had "Boot Profiles", one had the HD as first, the other had Optical Drive as first, so I set that one as default. Then, if I did not have a disk in the drive, it would not boot at all. So I put it back to original profile and just used the F2 key to choose boot device.
