I have a choice between two Win 8 touchscreens. An 8 GB i7 with 1 TB Drive and a 8 GB i5 with 750 GB and 24 Hybrid SSD?

I don't plan to run any high demand programs. I just want something fast to run the basics with quick boot and quick wake. Which do you think is better the i7 or the i5 machine?

Go with the i7, and 1tb drive, and then purchase a SSD 80 gig to run as the OS drive = very fast system. . .:dinesh:

Agree with Lee... provided you "can" upgrade the SSD drive. Some manufactures are making upgrading drives difficult. I have a newer Asus Zenbook Prime (UX31A-DH71) and the good news is it has a 256gig SSD drive. The bad news is its a crappy one (Sandisk) that can't be upgraded due to the size and shape - i.e. it is a proprietary drive, with a proprietary connector :(

Anyway being that the laptop you're looking at has a standard hard rive, you "should" be able to swap it for an SSD drive. So yeah, I agree with Lee.

BTW I an i7 is the way to go, that's what I got :)

Yes, by all means do as Lee says, you can always buy an SSD drive later! Get the i7 first! :)

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
FYI, a Hybrid drive is not an SSD. It does have a small amount of a Solid State memory, and it does improve performance a great deal, but it's not a true SSD and has many compromise points in performance.
