But she said she had "found" a bunch of older images in her recycle bin. I don't know if she had tried to recover any of those, but chances are if she did, it may have overwritten some of the ones she wanted to recover. based on her lack of response, I made my suggestion, don't touch the drive, and to use recuva, per the first response in here. The files should still be there.

Rebuilding the Library, every result I found in googol for 'Rebuilding Library" refers to corrupted Media Center or Media Player libraries, I didn't find any that refer to the Photo Library, except for iPhoto in Macs.

If you know some way to rebuild her photo library, that would be good info to post, is there a tutorial on it on this board? I looked, didn't see anything. That would preclude that her drive had developed problems of some sort, but the issue here is how do we get the pics back for her, the quickest way possible? If they were the result of an accidental deletion, then they should all still be there in that folder. If Recuva can find them, then she can restore all of them in one fell swoop, after that, we can try to find out if there was another problem.

Even if she had used the system after this happened, SOME of the files should still be there. Things like Pagefile.sys and Swapfile.sys tend to use the same area of a drive.

Did you even bother to look at the link I provided to Brink's tutorial?

Didn't think so because the first time the word "rebuild" was ever mentioned was when you conjured it up during one of your muscle-flexing "look at me" responses.

Thank you for the time and help of every one of you.
If you dont mind to waste some more time for me, Ive got the SAME question:
    - In my Pictures /My pictures library I could/can see the same folders, same pictures... Is it duplication? Thats why I deleted one of the library, because I thought it was duplication. And when I realized that all my pictures disappeared, wanted to get them back from the trash... and there was no (newly deleted) picture in there.... only some hundred I deleted them previously. So I emptied the trash, because there was no picture there... And when it started (emptying), I could see a message for a half second: emptying 4112 pictures
I m fine now I just would like to know and understand WHAT HAPPENED and where the pictures are??? I feel a little bit stupid using different softwares to solve the problems out - not knowing the problem itself...
Thank you again for your help, I relly appreciate it and have a lovely day

Library's don't contain any files, just links (shortcuts).

When you view your Pictures library, it is just a link back to the My Pictures folder in C:\Users\username\MyPictures.

Be sure to backup your files in the future!

Judy, read here and at the links at the bottom for info on Libraries: Libraries - Microsoft Windows

Hope that will help a bit in understanding them.
