Hey... thank you ALL for the help... so far so good

Now I'll restart and check the UEFI to see if the "J" drive (backup HDD) is shown...

on the UEFI basic (I guess) opening page, only the two boot priority drives are shown. I left the SSD as the #1 priority drive and the CD/DVD as the #2. Under the Advanced settings Boot Override area, all the HDDs are shown.

Is there a procedure to create a 3rd boot priority entry?

I don't understand why all the HDDs would not be possible "Available devices"... after all the J HDD does have the bootup info on it?

Why are you so concerned about ALL drives being displayed in the boot order. ONLY drives that are bootable (ie, contain an OS) should be there. Non-bootable (data-only) drives cannot be a boot source so no need to try and display them as such. Sorry if I am missing something here.

In windows 8 pro after I set 1&2 I can click on 3 & a menu pops up with other choices for 3.

    Thank You All

The system now does boot from the SSD first, looks at the CD-DVD next and apparently will go to the backup HDD partition which has the original system files from the MS windows download.

Here are the images (photos) from the UEFI Basic:

There are only 2 boot priority items, the SSD first and the CD-DVD next. I enter the "Advanced Mode" and view the following "override" sources which I selected from all the list shown under the "EZ Mode" Boot Menu above:

And I do not see where to click on the "3" to add the HDD with original boot partition/files:

I'm sorry for the unclear message, I am not trying to have the bootup system try to load data files... but only to setup the order of the partitions viewed in trying to start the computer. There are 3 possible sources for bootup: the CD-DVD drive with a recovery or program disc; the SSD Boot Partition and last the HDD Boot Partition from the original setup of the computer. So, adding that last as priority 3 would be the only undone step...

The system does run great, thanks to all of you... now to figure out what all of those innumerable management decision selections represent in the Manager program...WOW! Looks like the Library of Congress... another time, it's Five O'clock somewhere for me!

    Thank You Dave Greene

OK, thanks for that clarification. With that said, there must be something wrong with that J drive boot configuration. So, would you like to give us a screenshot of your partition structure on the J drive?

The J drive is the SSD drive which was cloned from the C Drive?

    You Betcha...

and a goofy thing is that if I click on the J drive in the EZ MODE Boot Menu, the computer will boot from that drive and change the drive designations for the WD Blue and SSD drives in the Windows Explorer Computer page...

I checked the ASUS website for updates to the software/firmware for that MOBO, I believe I'm uptodate... so???

    Well, fuggadaboudit, life's too short.

Again, thanks for getting the machine running so well...
