Solved Getting File Explorer to work my way

Was much easier in XP. Finally found the fix to have File Explorer open in Computer rather than Libraries. The problem now is Folder View. With XP, you could set all folders to the same view or change how 1 folder would view.

When File Explorer opens My Computer, I want to see the Navigation Pane. That's the ONLY place I want a folder to open like that. Seems that with 8, all folders have the same view.

Anyone know a work around for this?

I'm not quite sure what you are wanting. Please elaborate a bit more.

If you mean that your only want to have the navigation pane turned on in the My Computer window, then that's not possible. The navigation pane is a global setting that is either turned on or off in all folders for your account.
You are able to change the folder view of each folder to whatever you like. The tutorials below can help show you more on this for now.

He can install Classic Shell, which can show the Address bar the old way, with the actual Path, as in c:\Windows\System32\file.name. I installed it alongside Start8 on this system here, and it shows the actual path in the address bar now. But I have found even without add ons, Explorer can be set up all kinds of ways in Windows 8 to suit various users. It's all in the "View" settings.

It's not the address bar I'm concerned with. Brink is correct, the Navigation Pane is a global setting. It' either on (shows in all folders) or off.

Sorry about the delay, had a major computer malfunction. Just got this up and running again.
