"Help the Windows team prepare for beta by signing up for the Windows Developer Preview Install Fair"

I got this invite via email this AM, clicked on "Accept the Invitation" and got this message:

Unfortunately, the program you are trying to join is no longer accepting new participants. We are sorry for this inconvenience.

Anybody else arrive too late to the party?

ETA - INVITATION - oops.

Wait, what? Does that mean they removed the developer preview or something? Not sure I understand what you mean...

I should have added this to the OP - sorry.

Sign-up to be a part of our virtual install fair. We’d really appreciate your help and for two days only – Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th – Microsoft will have engineers available to chat with you live about your installation experience. From determining if your PC can run the Windows Developer Preview and downloading all the way through your installation, engineers will be available to answer your questions and troubleshoot any errors you may encounter.

How does the virtual install fair work?
On the day of the event, log-on to our website from the computer on which you intend to install the Windows Developer Preview and follow our instructions. During the process Windows engineers will be available to chat with you in real-time and answer your questions. Or should you encounter any issues, we will be available to debug and troubleshoot. Or if you simply want to provide us feedback about what you like and dislike during the installation, we’re here for that as well.

ETA - I just recieved a reply to my inquiry about this situation - seems there was a "glitch" on their site. I got another link to go with the usual Connect survey, which I completed, and am awaiting acceptance, or not, to the program. It should be an interesting experience.

Oh wow. That's really cool of Microsoft. I had no idea they'd be so proactive about it, actually. Some good is finally coming our way?
And sorry for the initial confusion, I get what you mean now. :)

Do you think MS will do a comparable launch with 8 as they did with 7 and the New Efficiency thing? May not buy 8 at this point, but dang it if they give it away I'll use it.

I doubt that is going to happen. But if you buy a new OEM PC, you get it nearly for free. And eventually we will all need new OEM boxes - unless you build it yourself.
