Weird (but small) issue on my Windows 8 laptop

Ok, so I have Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook (L322X), and I've had it for a few months with no issues, and everything was perfect. In the past few days, however, I have been experiencing this weird problem where the window that I have open will randomly become un-selected (as if I clicked on another window). Now this happens randomly, and its VERY annoying, especially when I'm typing something (when the window becomes deselected, I can't continue typing until I re-click on the window). Sometimes it won't happen for an hour or so, and sometimes it will deselect my window almost every minute....completely at random. By the way, this deselecting issue happens when I'm using the touchpad, and when I'm using a USB mouse.

Things I have tried:
-Scanning for viruses with 3 DIFFERENT antivirus programs (found nothing).
-Checked task manager and no processes seem to be suspicious.
-Updated mouse and keyboard drivers.
-Doing the command sfc /scannow from CMD
-The issue DOES NOT happen when in safe mode

When this happens, you need to see what's happening on the taskbar, if another program is taking precedence, the taskbar will blink.

Also, check for ROOTKITS, cos it does sound like Virus activity. It sounds like you are getting a hidden popup. Run TDSSKILLER, Malwarebytes Anti Rootkit and GMER

First of all, thanks for the quick reply. Now about the taskbar. Whenever my window is deselected, the taskbar does not blink at all, so I guess, according to what you said, another program isn't taking precedence. Also I just used all of the antivirus programs you listed, and some of them found maybe 1 or 2 things. I rebooted, and the problem still exists....

It may be happening so fast you can't see it. Well, something is wanting to show a window, and it may be running hidden. Look in your task manager and see if there are any Iexplore.exe instances running even though you don't have a browser windows open. If you do, shut them off. And then check your IE for loaded addons.

I'm using Google Chrome. There is nothing called Iexplore.exe in task manager, and I don't have any IE addons.

It might help to run --- Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

in administrator command prompt & then reboot & run sfc again.

Yah try that. Let us know what happens. We've checked for hidden IE running and that was not the problem. Maybe it is a program running in the tray looking for an update? Like Geforce Experience. Look through all of the programs running currently in the tray, and see if they have any auto-update check, shut it off or switch it to "Manual".

Ok, I did everything that David Bailey suggested to do. After the reboot, I did sfc /scannow, and when it finished scanning, it said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". However, the problem still exists....

Well, somethign is hijacking your Point of Focus. A Program, a minor keypress, an unknown key combo, a hotkey. A Virus, a rootkit, a hacker. SOMETHING is causing it.

You may have had someone plant this into your system:

I am sure you have some program installed, there this is a relevant issue. Just type "Windows Focus" in your searches and these kinds of problems come up in the results.
