What happens when you try to install the same thing again?

I want to make screenshot to make a tutorial of how to download and use certain programs. If the program is already downloaded could that be problematic? Would it be better to do it on a blank new user account?

I think you are over-complicating something that is easy to do. While on any screen, simply press the Windows Key + Print Screen Key and a snapshot of the screen will be saved in your Pictures folder in a new folder called Screenshots. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that thought; however, the solution I provided will do what he wants without the need for any 3rd party software; however, if he wants to massage those images after download, then that is a whole different story but he hasn't included that as a requirement so far.

yeah installing is what i meant. Thanks for the instruction. Is there a shortkey for capturing a part of the screen only instead of the whole screen?

Could it happen that since I've downloaded and installed it already it says something like 'you have this already downloaded'? Or does it override the originally downloaded program?

No shortcut to capture only a portion of the screen. I have no ideas what you are trying to say in your second paragraph so maybe caperjack can help. Good luck.

I think Ctrl/PrintScreen captures an active window.

Hello HippsieGypsie,

Yes, it captures a window to the clipboard but then you must paste it into an application like paint to save it. My original suggestion skips that need entirely and simply deposits a "ready to view image" in the folder previously identified.

Thanks for chiming in!

You are absolutely correct. It's saves the screenshot in a "Pictures" subfolder called "Screenshots" and then modify in picture program such as Paint. There is also the Snipping Tool, which is handy.

It depends on the program , some check and ask if you want to overwrite the existing folder (assuming you use the same one) , some just overwrite whats there , others say "I'm already installed , do you want to repair /re-install / uninstall"

If you want to do a clean picture tutorial on installing something , best bet is to uninstall the program and start from scratch.

You could just re-install over the exisiting program and 'massage' the instructions later missing out the extra steps taken because of it.

Usually, it will go in right on top of what you had already installed. But it won't fix any problems with the program, if any. First you have to find out why a program is doing a certain thing.
