Must I still pay MSN?

When setting up my laptop with Time Warner as my provider, I was surprised that my MSN e-mail address and my e-mails transferred over to my new computer, since MSN is not my service provider on my laptop.

I am still paying MSN $22 per month for my dial up service on my old computer.

If I cancel this $22 per month to MSN, meaning I cannot access the internet on my old computer anymore, will my MSN account be cancelled, forcing me to get a new e-mail address on my new laptop?

Good chance it will, however, with all the free email service available there is really no need for a paid service. Your Time Warner service should work on all your devices without further monies due.

Ignoramus, can you explain further what you mean by "provider on my laptop" versus your old computer?

How are you getting internet service on your laptop? Why wasn't your old computer using that service?

Does that $22 go to MSN? Or does it go to Time Warner? Time Warner probably just uses MSN for their email provider. Your account will probably just be downgraded to a non-premium account rather than turned off, but I would suggest you call Time Warner and ask them.

That is a question to ask MSN. Some providers will forward your e-mail to a new addres for a short time after you cancel your service.

Can you transfer your MSN ID/address to your Microsoft Account? I had an MSN account for about 2 months but it was always connected to my main email address I've had since 1997. I used that ID on Technet, and for a hotmail account, now it's my main MS account ID. I suppose you can cancel the dial up, but it might be nice to have it in case you ever need some kind of connection where there is no Wifi available.

By provider, I mean that I am paying Time warner for my internet service on my laptop, while paying MSN for slow dial up internet service on my old desktop.


MSN says they are not a high speed internet provider, but that I would pay them $50 per year for their premium service once I go high speed.

I am wondering if my MSN e-mail account will disappear on my new laptop through Time warner if I cancel the $22/per month for MSN dial up without paying them 50$ for premium service?

I also noticed that the Time warner installation tech connected my modem to my old Compaq 5000 Presario tower I used for slow dial up, and if this connection is the reason my account transferred over?.

You mean on the Presario? If the Presario was originally set up for Dialup, then yes. The Tech would have had to make a new Internet Connection for Broadband.

Yes I did, albeit he also stated he just signed up with Time Warner which is a cable provider thus giving him broadband service. He appeared to be saying that for the laptop he was still using MSN on dial up that is the reason for indicating that his Time Warner account would work with all devices requiring internet access. Thus the reason for stating that he could use any e-mail service.

Both are accomplished by contacting customer service as outlined in the article I linked to.

His addy should work with Outlook.com from any browser. From what I remember, you have to have a paid Hotmail account to have it integrate with Outlook Express or Regular Outlook. I don't know if that is still in effect.
