    Hello Delicate,

    If you mean the "Take Ownership" context menu from the tutorial below, then what folder are you trying to take ownership of, and I'll do some testing with it to see what may be the issue.

    I've found a fix Brink, even after having installed windows 8 pro... .

    the takeown references in the registry (some of them) had the /f switch
    but were missing the:
    /r
    switch which allows me to retrieve subfolders too .. .

    I added them in some lines during a regedit search .. .

    I'm glad to hear that you got it sorted.

    Odd. The "Take Ownership" context menu above does have the /r switch in it to also take ownership of the contents of folders and drives.

    Where you signed in as an administrator, and what folder and it's contents were you trying to taking ownership of?

    Drives:
    Code:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    Folders:
    Code:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    What did you add to make it do what you wanted?
