Has there been a sleep fix for 8.1 pushed out my Microsoft in the past?

I think the answer is yes but don't hold me to it. There have definitely been non-targeted updates that have had this effect.

My main rig is fine. It's a lounge based HTPC/gaming rig which I power on/off using IR so sleep isn't as critical. In fact I haven't even conducted any auto-sleep function tests on it.

My NAS though is located in a cupboard so WOL and auto-sleep are essential (no 24-7 running for me... the dust!)

Dang Skippy! First time I have seen ANY mention of sleep issues in a patch. This might affect more people than you think. For instance, I have a Netgear Wireless/wired router that I use only wired for my computers but wireless for my smartphone. Since it is really hard to even find a non wireless router these days, I bet most of us have some sort of wireless/wired router out there. I only use my main computer to set the setting for the router, that might be why only this machine was affected. However, my sleep issue was fixed in last December's update so I cannot tell if I was affected by the patch.

I have a wireless router but the wireless switched OFF.

Nevertheless, these latest updates have fixed my sleep issues SO FAR.

One other thing I just thought of. My ASUS mobo has a built in wireless router/connection. I too have it turned off but it's still there and may be recognized by Windows. Just because our wireless connections are not broadcasting, it may still be getting recognized as part of the operating system's services.

After six hours of testing I can verify that this latest Windows update did not fix the problem for my computer. Fwiw my computer connects to my wifi router via a CAT6 cable.

@MasterChief. Thanks for your suggestions. I followed them all up but it made no difference. Long before now I have tried stopping all services and processes that weren't vital all to no avail. The asio driver is not needed, and I couldn't find a newer one, so I renamed it with no ill effect.

To be clear, though, my comp does sleep reasonably well but my main gripe is that power management doesn't seem to look at the power requests logged when youtube videos are playing resulting in the comp sleeping during playing. I guess my main problem is a non sleeping one!

    Cheers and thanks.
