I fixed my thrice damned "no sleep" issue that I have been having since 8.1. And it was entirely MY FAULT. I still run gadgets. One is written by a guy in Ukraine for the weather, nice app too. Unfortunately, it would go to to the web every 5 minutes to update the weather. That would reset my timer so my computer never would sleep. Badly written gadget was all that I ever had. I deleted the gadget and now the computer sleeps all the time.

100%. Every. Single. Time. this is on win10 mind tho. The problem was still there when I migrated over months ago. the worst of it was it was an obvious fix once I had thought about as I KNEW the program was polling the web. I REALLY LIKED the gadget tho and I miss it!

There will hopefully be scalable modern apps that you can pin on the desktop to replace the gadget. The gadgets are supposedly a potential security risk.

So that gadget you do not have it installed on all your PC? Wow! Still why this gadget didn't show on pwcfg -requests then?

I've been having a problem with my computer also waking from sleep in the middle of the night, or after being tucked away inside a laptop bag. I checked my power options in advanced... nothing has been set to wake the computer from sleep except the power button. I checked the task scheduler and found that maintenance would only wake the computer when plugged in... What mystifies me is when after maintenance is completed, the computer doesn't go back to sleep. I'll find the laptop all warmed up when I lift the lid in the morning.

What disturbed me most of all was the waking from sleep while on battery power. I simply didn't want this to happen, EVER. Checked everything in "powercfg"... the wake source is UNKNOWN when I track the event.

I did discover in the advanced power management that in the "Hibernate After" section, it was set for 120 minutes when on battery power. OK, so wouldn't it go into hibernation and not instead WAKE UP? I saw someone post in a blog that it is best to set this to NEVER. So I did. Not sure if it's going to work...

Anyway, feels like if I'm going to take my laptop on the go, best to hibernate straight off rather than put in standby/sleep.

If the computer is asleep, it has to wake up in order to go into hibernation. Counterintuitive, yes. So maybe it is waking then unable to hibernate.

Dude if you storing your notebook in a bag, Why are you not shutting it down completely. Your really taking a chance on burning it up. Also you should have fast start turned off. Insure that your completely shut down before you put it in that bag.
