    Windows 8.1

I'm sitting here working on the laptop because it has PaperPort 12 on it and I needed to scan some important documents and I hear the DG33BUX shut down! It actually went to sleep; however, that was waaaaaaaaay long past the 10 minutes and as I looked over there, I saw my Windows 7 Desktop! Gaaaagggghhhhh!

Seems a lot of us have ASUS motherboards. Maybe that is just because there are a lot of them about!

I did notice BIOS and drivers for 8.1 and tried some. I am a bit wary of BIOS updates and wouldn't hold out much hope that it will fix this problem but, hey, I will give it a go. Will report back to let you guys know. Hopefully, it will be from this comp!!

No worries, mate! I have not had a BIOS crash from ASUS in years and years. The new UEFI BIOS screen is sweet. It won't do you any good with sleep but WTH!

At least it seems to be mostly isolated to one computer that does not sleep, my main one of course... Haswell Z87-Pro mobo.

Reporting back to say that my XPS 8500 is still running good with timer sleep after blocking power services. This despite various stress tests performed over the last couple of days

You're right, John. Absolutely no problem updating the BIOS from the UEFI screen. Piece of the proverbial. And, yes, didn't change the sleep behaviour. I didn't expect it to but this is a base coverer for the gurus that will tell you to make sure all drivers etc are updated!

Good to hear yours is sleeping, prism. Seems the only way, so far, to get some reliable result. We all await the proper solution but, till then, the Power thingy seems the best compromise. I'll keep looking, though!!

    Cheers,

    Lindsay.

    my sleep problem solved.

since my 8.1 update no automatic sleep.

i've tried almost everything listed in this thread, had some temporary success but always reverted back to the same problem
    was getting unbelieveably frustrated.

the last thing i did was turn off hybrid sleep and amazingly i currently have no more sleep problem...
i waited a couple of days to post this until i had a few auto sleep cycles....it's working perfectly.

    thank you all !

I've got hybrid sleep disabled, but still get the sleep problems. I installed updated drivers and it was ok for a few days, the stopped sleeping again. I did a restart yesterday and last night it slept ok, so I'm at a loss at the moment.

I tried turning off Hybrid Sleep and it didn't work for me. Same old same old.

Hybrid Sleep is the only thing I've turned off . . . I haven't disabled Power because I don't want anything broken.
