Hey there,
I like collecting store demos of products, and one that's caught my attention is the one for Windows 8. It plays a little "here's what your computer can do" video over and over, and lets you use all the features.
I notice it has a sample Microsoft account called Allison Brown.
I've tried copying all the hard drive contents off one of those demos to a flash drive, but it won't run on my regular computers. I also notice that if I use the "reset your PC" option on the kiosk demos, it'll turn into a regular Windows 8 without the demo stuff.
Is there some special installation disc/flash drive for retailers? I'm just curious - it's OK if nobody's allowed to distribute it due to legal reasons, but I was just curious how that demo was installed... obviously just copying the executables and trying to run them does not work.
I've even seen Windows RT demos with the Allison Brown account!
On that note, there used to be a "Windows Demo Experience" for Windows 7 that would show your computer's specs in a nifty little screen - same thing applies to that, I tried copying the files (I even used clonezilla and made a complete clone of a kiosk demo) and it doesn't run on anything. I'd love to know how to get a copy just for informational and collection purposes.
