I have to use the windows 8 installation to boot my computer yet I have installed the windows 8 OS onto the hard drive.

I had to have the hard drive re-formatted because when I took it down to a friends he said it wasn't formatted which was a tad bit strange because I've been using it for around about a year now.

I bought a new computer case so I re-built the system into the new case, I've check all the cables over and over.

Sometimes my motherboard doesn't even realise their is a hard drive connected to it.

For a long while I've thought it is a problem with my hard drive but could it be the motherboard itself?

Every time I boot the computer, either with just the hard drive or the windows 8 OS disc it will always go straight to the motherboard screen "MSI" and ask for a boot device or it will say "no boot devices available, reset?"

It's the most annoying problem I've ever encountered. Has anyone had any experience with it?

Once the computer starts via the OS Disc, I can then take the disc out and the system will work fine but if I were to shut the system down and turn it back on again (without the disc) then it would just take me straight to the motherboard screen again where it would ask me about boot devices which is where I'd have to insert the disc and play around again.

Anyone could help me on this matter then I'd love them forever :D

Thanks for reading.

I take the over means the motherboard is about a year old. (hardware unknown)

As the new MOBO's now have a uEFI/BIOS firmware.
