Create New "Links" Folder for Favorites, Windows Explorer

I was recently trying to transfer some documents from my desktop computer to my laptop, and in some confusion, I've concluded that I've deleted my "Links" folder my accident. I cannot add anything to my "Favorites" folder.
I heard that you can create a new "Links" folder, but I have no idea how.
    Has anyone done this successfully?
Or know how to do it?

Hello Ginger, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You could use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to restore your deleted C:\Users\(user-name)\Links folder.

User Folders - Restore Default Location - Windows 7 Help Forums

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Open a folder or webpage.
Right click Favorites & choose add present location to favorites.
It would help to have the explorer window open & minimized.

EDIT-- Brink beat me to it.I type slow.

I was following the steps to Option Two, but Step 18, when I have to enter the code isn't working.
Am I supposed to relpace "Current_User" and "Software" and "Current Version" with my own? I tried this, but it's still now working... :/

EDIT: Never mind, I found the regedit location

    Ginger,

Step 18 is just to go to that location in the registry. Once there, you would check to see what the "Data" value is of the {BFB9D5E0-C6A9-404C-B2B2-AE6DB6AF4968} string value (step 19) to make sure it's what's listed at step 20.

I do have another question: I have the favorites folder now, but can't seem to find "Recent Places." It's usually in "favorites" but since I had to manually replace everything in that folder, it's gone and I have no idea where it is.
Any idea how to get the "recent places" folder back?
