Solved tabs active but on waking, they have disappeared

I have my Lenovo laptop set to sleep when I close the lid. I do so with my windows and tabs active but on waking, they have disappeared. Why?

Specifically, what tabs are you referring to? Tabs in IE10 or tabs in other programs. Do you lose offline tabs (or open programs) as well as IE tabs (open online)?

Thank you. I have since discovered that when I returned the laptop to the shop to have a slight fault rectified, they failed to mention that they had reset my preferences to shut down rather than sleep, hence the reason for the disappearance of the open tabs and windows!
