Is there a way to have more details in file tooltips?

I'm not liking how the details pane looks, to see more info I'd have to stretch out more. I hope in 8.1 they give an option to set the details pane horizontal on the top.

Is there a way to have more details show when hovering over files? I much preferred W7's details pane.

As a workaround, you can set it wider permanently, but keep it hidden and activate only when you need it by clicking an icon you create on the Quick Access Toolbar. This is what I use.

There's a way to move the [DEL]pain[/DEL] pane to the bottom Yet I can't recommend it, because it involves modifying system files. The original DLL may get restored when you run sfc or with Windows updates.
