    Mouse Pointers

I set up cursors for the mouse pointers and save the changes, then the next time I reboot they revert back
to the default settings. Can anyone help or is this just W8?

Hello Jim, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Are you using a Microsoft account?

If so, then it may be syncing your old mouse settings. As a test, either turn off the "Other Windows settings" options or all of them with the "Sync settings on this PC" option to see if this continues to happen or not.If not, then you might see if the tutorial below to prevent changing the mouse pointers may.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Shawn, you are so knowledgeable, thanks a lot.
I would never have found that.

Syncing is interesting, but it steals computer identity. Each of my rigs are unique.

    I spoke too soon!
The prevent mouse pointers reg change did not work when I booted this morning
nor did the "other windows settings". I did not try "all sync settings" as I may wish to change some of them.

Hm... So, Syncing is not a solution for this. Have you saved the Mouse Pointer settings as a Cursor Theme? You may need to do that. Did you make these Cursors?

    Jim,

It may be another one of the sync settings. If you like, turn off syncing completely as a test to see if it continues. If it doesn't then you can turn it back on, and experiment with turning off the individual ones to see which one is responsible.

BrinkShawn, would it be "Other Windows Settings"? That's the only one that says "Mouse" on it. The other one would be "Personalizations"
