Installed Win 8.1 last night. Already broke it :(

Hi! If anyone could help me out with this, I would greatly appreciate it. About an hour ago, l noticed all the services in my control panel are giving an error. They say "Failed to Read Description. Error Code 2" where the description is supposed to be. It looks like they're running though.

I'm not sure, but I think this might have been caused by installing a copy of pc mechanic earlier. I'm thinking it might have deleted something important when I used it to clean out the registry, but I don't know for sure.

Any ideas?! Thanks again.

Probabaly. I expect pc mechanic kpet a backup, it should be able torestore that. Most of those utilities do.

Or you can probably do a System Restore......

I couldn't get it to restore after that, so I just deleted it. I actually ended up using Revo to force it, its installer had become corrupt.

I tried and it doesn't work. It rolls through, but at the end gives me an error saying it can't access a file.

I think I'm going to try a system refresh, but I don't know if it's even possible for 8.1.
