Combine Two Partitions In Windows 8

Hello Everyone Its Win8pctech Today i m telling you about how to combine two partitions in windows 8..

First Of all You Need To Open Control Panel Then Go to System Security-Administrative Tools Then Computer Management

In Second Step You need To Open Storage And Then Disk Management

In Third Step . Now you need a partition which will be added to the targeted one (E: drive will be added to D:). The drive which will be added to another, should be back-up before this major change on disk partitions.

So be Sure that You Done Backup Files Then Delete the Partition

Then After Getting a Free Space Partition,Move To partition (D Drive) Which Will Be Extended and right-click on it. Select the Extend Volume and go Next.

Select Next From the Bottom Side

And Then It will take a Few Minutes To Merge Two partition Into Single Drive

No. In fact, i'd call it borderline harmful and misleading. And I will tell you why.

    1) You can skip the first two steps simply by opening the start screen and typing "Disk management"

    2) You aren't combining two partitions, you're deleting one partition and extending the other partition to fill the deleted space. Combining would indicate you are taking both partitions (including their content) and making it a single partition. Likewise, your comment about "merging" two partitions isn't true either.

    3) You actually *CAN* combine partitions, and that is *NOT* the way to do it.

    4) You neglected to mention that both partitions have to be on the same hard drive, and they need to be right next to each other physically on disk for your method to work. Anyone following your advice may end up in a tough spot if these conditions are not true. A real combining of partitions doesn't need them to be next to each other, and they don't necessarily have to be on the same drive either (depending on how you do it).

    5) If you're going to post unsolicited tutorials, you're posting to the wrong forum, and they should be accurate.

Or , if you can afford $20-00 , Paragon Partition Manager Home 12 will merge partitions next to each other without data loss.

I thought Storage Manager could combine several drives to make one huge storage space- But I thought they all had to be blank? Maybe this is what he meant, merging two partitions from two separate drives into one.

Storage Manage can combine several partitions. But that's not what he's describing. He's describing deleting a partition and then extending another partition to fill its space.

There are many other options as well, such as mounting a partition within a folder on another partition, spanning partitions, striping partitions, etc..

Windows 8 Storage Spaces can combine multiple disks into one single volume.

Before using any such product you should have a backup of all important files on all partitions. Usually the procedure proceeds without incident, but sometimes not - with potentially disastrous consequences. Of course you should have a backup of important files anyway. Not having one is asking for trouble.
