    You need a valid subscription/account to download from TechNet or MSDN. It's not open to everyone.

    I already downloaded the 64 bit ISO, haven't done anything with it yet though. I updated though the Store this time around. I'll save the clean install for when the final release comes out. I could have imaged but chose not to, I don't mind starting over fresh every now and then.

    I downloaded and installed it into a VM on VMWare Player. I tried to install into VirtualBox but had no luck, not sure why the 8.1 Preview won't install since I have Win 8 Pro installed there.

    Anyway, I am a happy camper now that MS gave me the ability to boot direct to the desktop. I can now completely avoid the Start Screen and Metro apps without the need for a 3rd party app.
