In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MMC\SnapIns I have about 80 snapins. That slows down my boot process. Is such a high number of snapins normal ??

    Vista and Win7

    5 SSDs and 12 HDs
This is normal, and it has nothing to do with the boot process. If you need to troubleshoot your boot, create a boot trace and upload it somewhere.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately event 101 in the event viewer tells me that the mmc.exe is at least one of the causes for my slow boot time of 69 seconds.

Post the boot trace

1. Unfortunately, you never mentioned event 101 in the first post.
2. Even now your screenshot does not reveal the actual delay time that can be measured in a few seconds or even milliseconds (the scrollbar is there for a reason :)
3. It is also not clear from your post that this happens at every boot.

Do you see where I'm heading? Make the boot trace, if you want real analysis. Otherwise, you're in a guessing land :)

You may want to clear your event logs, I do this about once a month. I did it yesterday, I had over 60,000 entries in "Applications"
