What do you get in ctrl panel>power options - can you see a sleep option there? It is missing for me.

Try accessing it via Metro. That's where brummyfan shows it.

I had already looked in the obvious place.

That is why I then checked in control panel. Sleep is nowhere to be seen.

Maybe you only get the "Sleep" option if you disable the "Hibernate" option?

The sleep option does not exist in control panel. It's not greyed out - it is completely absent.

    Hey Simon,

Unfortunately, disabling or enabling hibernate would have no affect on Sleep being available.

You might check to see if you may have disabled the S3 sleep state (if supported by your motherboard) in your BIOS settings.

S3 is working fine - all my other os are sleeping beautifully, including win 8.0

It is probably something really obvious, but I haven't spotted it yet.

Maybe it is a game. When we are bored of arranging the kiddie building blocks, we can play treasure hunt , looking for the missing functions.

LOL, can we all dress up like Indian Jones while we hunt for the treasure of missing features?

Odd. This is reaching as a possible cause, but do you have your chipset drivers installed?

My sound used to work in the consumer preview fine but since I upgraded to the Release Preview I need the volume max and headphones in to hear anything. Any help appreciated. If more info is needed just ask.
5510We have info that Windows 8 Release Candidate will be called "Release Preview" and that will be launched sometime in late May or early June. But we must say that all these are just rumors. 5509 Source: winunleaked
