    Same here.
The quick fix in This PC window is to compact the folder view (default is expanded) by clicking on the arrow in the title above the folders. Then it will remember the view so it doesn't get in the way next time(s). BUT for the navigation bar... didn't found any solution to this.
It looks like a little small thing, but just this change can push me back to 8.0.

A very annoying thing to deal with every day when you have your habits. Miscrosoft takes every user for a novice and I for instance have never ever used their user folders in C:. The first thing we all do is to create new partitions and store our stuff in our own folders, not in the C: ones.

    Definetely annoying to me.
I personally like it and can't see what the big deal is. It didn't take anything away, just added some.

I know to each his own, and that's cool. I just don't see what the issue is.

You know I saw this the other day but it dawn on me We was missing. I just thought it must be something to do with the update. Strange the MS would remove it.

I haven't seen where you enable sleep. Anybody spotted where that is hidden?

Overall it's not that bad. Although, unfortunately the wifi does not work with my hp envy m6-1225 notebook

My first real glitch. My bluetooth adapter causes PC Settings to stop working. Appears to crash, but just moves into the background without doing anythinng useful.
It's definitely the bluetooth though, since the problem goes away when I remove it. Sad since it worked flawlessly under 8. Maybe the final release will work.
Either way, I'm happy but not "tickled pink". Some of the interface changes I like, while others I'm not crazy about, but none are deal breakers or makers.
All my usual software works just fine. I've been driving it the better part of the day and had no issues, other than the bluetooth thing mentioned above.
So far I'd say it's worth what it costs to upgrade, but not a lot more.
    One man's opinion.

It's difficult to explain. First of all, I use the navigation bar more than anything else. When it didn't exist in Windows yet, I used a purchased program that did that, so to me it's a very important element in order to do things fast.

With this new navigation bar, you have all those useless folders there, bothering, eating a lot of space and being impossible to remove. If you close This PC, then it will also close C: and D:, which to me are very important to be there always available and not hidden because I click on them a hell of a lot.

I have been using since the release of Windows 7 a little software tweak to remove the libraries from the navigation bar just to avoid that same annoyance. If I don't use it, I don't want it there. I guess some patch will come out soon to fix this too.

After playing with it for about two days now I must say I like Windows 8.1, I had been using Ubuntu as a primary desktop since 2008 and when Ubuntu went to Unity with essentially replacing a traditional task bar with a Ubuntu button with "lenses" I got used to but little customization without serious tweaks. I made metro start screen into something more useful so when I press the start button I feels much better. This update could make Windows a great desktop again.

Well to be honest I still don't get it but if you don't want to see those folders you could just click the black arrow next to "Folders" and they'll be hidden. Don't know if this will solve your issue, but at least you can hide them.

5510We have info that Windows 8 Release Candidate will be called "Release Preview" and that will be launched sometime in late May or early June. But we must say that all these are just rumors. 5509 Source: winunleaked
