It may be because by default, I set up the physical power button on the PC or Laptop to hibernate. That may be why it is vanishing on their computer. It's like I said, it normally does not show. This makes the fifth Windows 8 I have installed or set up, and the Hibernate never shows from the Charms Power Panel. That's what I mean by "Never, ever, ever, never". It's been this way on a wide variety of computers, and this laptop is the newest system I have ever worked on.

Ah - I see why now:

The "Hibernate" is Greyed Out - It's this way in ALL of my installations, even on the brand new Asus, which is Home Premium or something.

You would need to click on the Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top first for it to not be grayed out anymore. Please see tutorial below.

It's just not that important of an issue for me. I never use that area.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies. And, XweAponX. As far as I know, Hibernation option is disabled by default. And, you can make is visible in the shut down menu on the charm bar as Shawn suggested in his previous posts. At least, that's what I know

And, it happened again this morning. When I turned on my laptop, Hibernation option disappeared from all the options (that's in the first screenshot) and it wouldn't hibernate when I closed the lid. After I restarted everything was back to normal (and that's in the second screenshot).

I would appreciate if you guys have any other suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
    Mustafa.

    Mustafa,

You might check to see if you have he latest BIOS firmware update installed. A new version may help. At the HP link below, it shows the latest BIOS firmware version is F.24 for you HP DV6-7031TX PC.

Yeah. My BIOS firmware is up to date. I have a UEFI installation of Windows 8. Do you think that would cause such problems?

No, I have a UEFI Windows 8 installed as well without these issues.

As a test, turn off Fast Startup to see if it may be responsible. It's been known to cause issues with shut down and restart for some.
