I don't mean Satellite as in up in the sky, I meant any program hosted on the server - Satellite is used to refer to the Workstations, same thing.

Ok so if the network is operating up to par, there is nothing really wrong with it, dropped packets can happen. For Dropped Packets to matter, you would have to have 100% packet Loss.

Try Pinging the Server from XP, then try Pinging XP from the server. the results will show you how much packet loss there is. If you have 100% packet loss on one side or the other, THIS will be the problem.

Find the IP addys on your network of the Server station and the XP station. In XP, in a command window, type "Ping (LAN IP Address) where "Lan IP address" = the IP address of the Server station. Then go to the Server station and ping the XP machine, I think the Ping command is the same for Linux. Just type in the address of the XP machine and check the packet loss in THAT direction.

Post the results of both here, make a screenshot of it

You see here, I got 0% packet loss. Even with 0% I WILL still have a few dropped packets.

For the packet loss to be actually detrimental, you would have to see BILLIONS of Loss Entries in a 5-Minute span of time. Maybe not Billions, but possibly hundreds of thousands of entries in the log. You got that many entries in the log for these losses of yours?

Also, when you do the PING, if the XP to Server ping shows 100% Packet Loss, THAT means it's not connected. Usually, the amount of dropped packets you are talking about account for something like 2% Packet loss, which can be normal in some instances. It just depends on exactly how many packets as a whole were sent during the period of time shown in the logs.

Also you should read up on Netbios-SSN, as in why are you running it. Sounds like you may have a Visitor in your Server. Or, Netbios is what Windows XP is using to connect to the server.

Read these as well: One may be a Virus, the other may simply be showing a guest/sharing login to XP

Finally, you should run this Firewall test from Both machines:

It may in fact be a virus, I'll have to re-read the log, if it is using TCP Port 139, it IS a virus, if it is using UDP port 139, it is simply Sharing.

netbios sending unnecessarly request to gateway - Microsoft Community

I typed up "ebizchem" and "ebizchem virus" in Google - If "ebizchem" is not the name of your XP machine, then it is in fact a virus, I found a few references to it, once I find something relevant, I'll post the link.

Ive looked at it up and down - Have you run the Ping from both machines to each other?

Also on the XP machine run the equivalent of Netstat -abo, I don't know what the command switches will be, you'll have to check. On Vista 7 and 8, Netstat -abo will list all of your connections and it will show the Ports being used in order.

What we need to find out is if your XP is using Port 139, and if it is TCP (virus) or UDP (Normal)
