100's and more than a 1000 CRITICAL EVENTS everyday.....

Ever since we had a technician come out and replace our corrupted hard drive (only 3 1/2 months after purchasing brand new from Dell ), almost every single day there has been 100's upon 1000's of Critical Events in the Event history log. Mostly APP crashes and my WLAN-tray. I have no idea why this is happening. Have run My dell check up and have installed all the necessary BIOS and Microsoft updates. Like I said, we had a new HD installed and basically started from a clean reboot. I have not nearly enough knowledge about Win 8 and am starting to get very frustrated with this newest OS. Any help would be grateful...

Did you install the updates or the computer tech ?

I was gettiing something like this, hundreds if not thousands of critical errors, I forget which process. I had to delete my System events logs, they were huge.

After the last two groups of critical updates, it stopped.

Do you know the name of the process which is giving this error?

If I were you I would preform an In-Place install of Windows 8 it should replace any corrupted files. Did your tech do a full re-install? He may have forgotten to install a critical driver or update. Since it is a Task Tray error, it may be one of the Dell Programs which launch at Startup, try removing startup items until the errors stop. keep only those process which you think you need, you can just disable them until you know which one.

Here is a screenshot of MY DELL history log from May 7th 2013 when we had the last HUGE (3488) amount of Critical events. It seems that the Application Error bcmwltry.exe is the most frequent app crash of them all. Also, we had a Dell technician come out and install the HD, nothing else but replace the HD, I did the reinstall with the USB flash they sent with the new HD, then went and installed all the new microsoft updates myself.

Okay this does not look like the actual Windows program giving you those errors this looks like a program that comes with the Dell Computer I've seen this before and it may be giving you false entries-- see if you can get into the actual events log I mean, is that thing telling you stuff that's in the events log, or is it just giving you it's own report?

Let me see the actual event log, and I need to know the actual event I need to see the details of the event and that picture does not show me this

Sorry you did list a program that seems to be crashing so I'm gonna look that up I need to see what kind of errors that occur with that process.

Okay that's that's just your Broadcom wireless adapter. You don't need to have that running you should actually be using the Wi-Fi- Zeroconfig. you should switch to that let me look up the process.

Ok, it's called WLAN - Set that to AUTOMATIC. It used to be called Wireless Zeroconfig in XP and in 7 I think - It may be also WLAN in 7. But it is the same thing.

'When you use various WiFi adapters they will want to install their own controls to operate them - You do not NEED these, and sometimes they are cumbersome.



Turn this on, and delete the Broadcom WiFi app - But not the drivers.

Also, the Appcrash log says "Not Available" - So the Process may be being called up, but it's not there. SO just change your Wifi to Windows for control, you don't need all that extra cack from Dell, just use Windows to manage your events log.
