Getting around TrustedInstaller

This program is really a pain in the neck. I'm getting constant prompts to clear space on my C: drive, so I try to delete some of the built in Windows programs (Explorer, Office, etc.) that I don't use but TrustedInstaller blocks me every time. I've gone into the permissions for the programs I wish to delete and tried changing the settings but I just get an error message that reads "Failed to enumerate objects in container. Access denied."

Is there a simple way to just rid my computer of this TrustedInstaller program? I'm computer illiterate so a simple solution would be best

Cheers

Trusted Installer is not a Program - It's an ACCOUNT or USER type. And it's also a service in Windows - It's in most Windows versions even before Windows 8.

The "Trusted Installer" account is part of "Windows Resource Protection" which protects critical system files from unauthorized or accidental modification or deletion. With an admin account it is possible to circumvent this protection but you had better know what you are doing. One wrong move and you could end up with an unbootable system.

The explorer.exe file is not just Windows Explorer but manages the entire desktop and much more besides. This is just one example of why deleting files you think you don't need is a very dangerous thing to do. Experts think twice before deleting system files. Anyone who is "computer illiterate" shouldn't even consider it.

Exactly - Thank you for elaborating on it. You can add access to these files by editing the "Security" tab of a Files Property Sheet- You can only get to the Security tab by turning off the "Sharing Wizard" from inside of Folder Options. This is a Universal Setting, so you can access it from Any Folder:

Once you shut that off, the Security Tab shows up.

The Name of this, is different in various versions of Windows - In XP Home it is called something else, but it is always the last Checkbox in the Property Sheet. You just uncheck it and Security magically appears.

In Windows 8, Security may already be there, but in 2000 to 7 you have to uncheck that last Box to get to it.

Medlab - er, I mean Medab1, thanks, I see that now, I never have that running. So I think shutting it off, settting it to Manual may solve his problem with it.

I knew it was connected to a service just wasn't sure which one. Thanks a lot.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
I just checked mine again.
It reverted to manual from automatic.

I suppose it activates when needed.

From research I gather one should not disable it.

Shut off Automatic Updates, it should stay manual after that. Also, turn off automatic updates for the store as well.
