ID3 Tag Issues with MP3 and FLAC

Okay, so up until last night Explorer could display info for MP3 (and other media files aside from FLAC) perfectly fine. Last night I decided to set it up so it could display FLAC too. After tons of guess-and-check I finally got Explorer to be able to display and edit tag info for FLAC files, however, now Explorer can't display info for MP3s. Not sure about other formats. I tried the MP3s on other computers and in players and the ID3 tags are present, Windows just isn't reading them.

I'm fairly sure the issue occurred when I tried to install "Taglib Property Handler" (Taglib Property Handler Free Download) Neither installation option worked, and "uninstall" restored it to "windows default settings" but after that, not only could I not yet read FLAC, I also lost the ability to read MP3. If anyone could help me get the MP3 info back it would be greatly appreciated. I tried some suggestions I found online but as they were caused by different errors I'm not entirely surprised it didn't work.

You may have replaced the Handler for the other files somehow, either by trying to install that Tag Handler or other manipulating.

Do you have a restore point set to before you tried to change these things? That would be the quickest way to restore the settings. At least from there,m you could look into the matter in such a way that by adding FLAC it will not affect the other File Extensions.

Does VLC show the Metadata for FLAC files?

Actually, I do. I'll give it a shot and see if it works. As for VLC, yes, it does display the tag information.

    EDIT:

The system restore worked, and I was also able to use the correct program and Explorer can now read both MP3 and FLAC. I think I'm golden!

    Thanks, XweAponX

Hi there a useful bit of free software if you want to re-assemble a single FLAC / APE file containing a CUE file into its original tracks (with track titles etc). Some of you might still have (or come across) music as a single CUE + FLAC or APE file - particularly if you are getting some lesser...
