Question problems with Windows 8

I purchased one of the $39.00 upgrades that MS did back when Windows 8 first came out and never got around to installing it until about a month ago. I did an upgrade installation to Windows 8 from Windows 7. (yes, I know, need to do a clean install, but I have a lot of stuff on there setup that I cannot remember how or the settings to go back through a clean install and get everything set back up again...thus the dirty upgrade).

Since I have installed Windows 8 I can no longer connect to my Lucas Arts Star Wars Battlefront 2 server I have running on this pc, nor can I connect to my webcam server WebcamXP anymore. Both of these programs run and seem to work fine in Windows 8, but now I just cannot connect to them. If I load up Battlefront on any of my other desktop computers on my LAN and scan for LAN servers nothing shows up. When I try to connect to my Webcam server from the internet it just times out and never connects. I have check the firewall settings and do not see anything, I have even completely disabled and turned off the Windows firewall and still no good. Nothing has changed on my network except upgrading this pc to Windows 8.

So, does Windows 8 have something else in it that might be blocking connection to these programs? I'm at a loss.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Which version of 8 do you have, 8 or 8 Pro? What AV are you using with 8?

I believe it is just regular 8. I am just using the AV that came with 8, Defender or MSE, whichever one it is called. I'm at my office right now and it is one of my house computers...I will verify for certain when I go home for lunch.

OK, solved all my problems and none were related to Windows 8. Had to change some settings on the different apps and all is well now.
