    resizing windows

hey guys, i have a new touch laptop and wanted to try to stick to the new windows as much as possible and try to
"get used to it" which is very difficult.
my desktop is running win 8 also, but ive used retroUI to bring the menu back and remove everything metro.
    works great.

anyway to my issue which might not be an issue.

everytime i open an "app" or whatever they are. it always comes up with "Use F12 to resize"
hitting it gives me a "full screen" view. which is what i would expect it to do on its own? for example i open the travel app, it will go to a window and say the f12 thing. can i get it to auto enlarge?

its possible its the startmenu/taskbar doing it?
also if i hit the home button it goes back to metro and you can still see some of the window at the bottom where the task bar would normally be.

also can i get the task bar to only show up when im at the desktop?

    Welcome to Windows EightForums, winterknights.

The Modern/Metro Store apps by default open the full screen and can be snapped two at a time. The legacy Win32 programs of the desktop continue to window as usual.

Could this be your laptop OEM program that may be doing this?

not sure, it's done it from the start. I always have to hit f12 to resize the window.
i also would like the on screen keyboard to stop appearing?

Yes, a screenshot would be nice, please. Screenshot - Capture Screenshots Directly in Windows 8

What do you mean "the on screen keyboard to stop appearing". It should only appear if you command it to.

    Thanks for posting those.

No offense, but that is some weird-looking stuff. A desktop taskbar running in Modern/Metro? It's like half desktop and half Modern/Metro. Could it be some kind of OEM "botch to fix 8"?

What brand is this laptop? Please either fill out your computer specs in your profile or post here.
