Freeze Windows 8: Impossible to reboot and HD no find

    Hey people,

I had a weird problem since yesterday :

I have a laptop with Two Hard Drive( one SSD of 24 gb and one big). Windows 8 is set up on the SSD hard drive

Yesterday, I got a freeze and I had to restart the computer by unplug it. After that, I can't boot it any more. I had a message which said that it missed
    boot.ini (something like that)
I tried to repair it but the HD is locked. I tried to reinstall it, but I can't find the SSD hard drive during the installation process.
I use GParted Live but it didn't found the SSD drive too.

I don't know what I can I do to fix this problem.

    If somebody have an idea

    Thanks’ by advance

Does it say it cannot find a certain boot file, the name escapes me right now, "Winboot" or Bootmem" or something - It will be a blue screen with a path. My Media machine does this, it is not seeing the Sata Drive, it is not showing up in the Bios. It may be hard to do with your laptop - But my solution is to disconnect the drive and reconnect it. With Power Off, so if you can open the back of your laptop, just take the drive out and stick it back in, then reboot, see if that resets it.

If it is Locked in the BIOS, then you may not be able to get into it without an Install disk, you should be able to boot to an Install disk and use the Automatic Repair from there. Don't try it through Windows, not in the state that it is in now - You MUST do it from an install disk. I'll bet the drive is locked because the system detected a drive error and it wants to do a CHKDSK - You can do that using Hiren's Boot CD (Link down below my sig pic) - And boot using that - While you are in it, you can check the whole drive with one of the Hard Drive Testing tools in the "Dos Programs" - After that, boot to Mini XP on the Hirens disk, then run a full CHKDSK from there - After that, reboot to Windows 8, and see if it goes through an Auto Repair process, let it do whatever it needs to do. You can invoke it through the Win 8 Install disk if you cannot invoke it through Windows 8 itself.

I just want to add - My Media machine does this all the time - Locks up, because the Sata drive which Windows 8 is no has dropped off of the Sata bus. That's why I disconnect it and then reconnect it. I have a hunch, this may have happened to you - Is your laptop HP? Because many HPs are Asus motherboards, which have this problem.

    hey XweAponX,
    thank tou for your answer

It is exactly the problem that I occurred
I tried your both method but nothing change.

In fact I had an Hybrid hard drive and it is the SSD part of the HD which isn't recognize anymore ( I installed W8 on this part)

I think that it is dead.

Ok, well that must be the explanation. You can test it with the tools on Hiren's Boot Disk - If it has any life at all, there is a program called "Vivex" or something similar that can remap the whole drive - Try It - It has aggressive detection techniques, if it it found, then you can use the "Smart Remap" function - Which can restore many drives to perfect health. But it being a SSD drive, the program may choke on it. I've never tried it. If the drive manufacturer has any SSD tools that run on a command line, you should run those. Else, you will have to put the drive into a tower and test it from there.

Based on what you described, 9 out of 10 times the drive has gone bad. This is not a case of windows 8 sucking. It's the case of hardware failure.

I've recovered drives that were in that bad a state or worse - Try the tools on Hiren's I mentioned.

That's why I suggested looking for the repair tools made by the MFG. But a drive scan should not harm an SSD drive, just don't repair it with the program, use the program made for the drive.

So I checked with the tool and It seems to have no error,

It seems that the tool didn't see the ssd part neither
