I faced the same issue when last time I installed NOD32 v5.

Then i had to REFRESH my DELL inspiron 15r 3521 (Windows 8) from BOOT MENU.

Now yesterday(19th May 2013) I installed GOM player and java runtime envr. I was running it whole night, download a 12GB of game also.

And when today in the morning I restarted my Laptop it got stuck before the LOGIN screen, just shows up black color screen after showing DELL loading.

So i forced shutdown, then after doing force shutdown 3-4 times the Windows 8 recovery menu comes up, I restored my Laptop to 19th May 2013, today its 20th May 2013 (affected installation were GOM player and java).

Laptop restored in 5mins, and then I reached the Desktop and it ran properly, but internet was not working. So just restarted and same stuff again. =>> It stuck on the screen before Login page of windows 8 with a black color screen. So I restarted again, and now I just reached DEKSTOP. Im afraid to restart now, please suggest.

- Can I install Chrome Java 32 bit ?
- Im installing VLC now, instead of GOM player.

I never put my laptop on hibernate not sleep mode.

What should I do, any way I can fix this issue from recovery menu with command prompt ? Or should just again SYSTEM RESTORE ? I dont wana REFERSH my Laptop as I have my important data as well many software installed like photoshop, dreamweaver, Virtual-machine with Linux Mint, sublimetext 2... and Company of Heroes game and steam. Also, alot of downloaded DATA.

please help.

welcome to windows 8 forum steelx .. the first i'm gonna correct is that your OS is not a fail edition
and also you should try to update the NOD AND JAVA ... go through an windows update and dell update( i donno whether dell provides update or not for it's laptop, because i have come across vaio only) . try it and pray .... and also i'd recommend uninstalling NOD and choose any of the ten anti-virus from the below link ... please don't install bitdefender because it's very heavy anti-virus and may slow down your lappy.. my choices from the link are avast and kaspersky

Hi Salim, thanks for replying.

yes on the first restore it uninstalled NOD32 v.5 Im using NOD32 v.6 TRIAL right now. I already have all updated drivers, BIOS update as well from DELL website.

Also, java 64bit is installed already. But I had issued with GOM player and as well Chrome Java32bit plugin after system restore. So Im not sure if I can install the Chrome Java update or not.

And for GOM, im gonna use VLC now instead.

Im still awaiting if anyone can tell me preventive measures.

I just love NOD32 only, it the best while playing games. lowest ram memory footprint (please feel free to suggest).
Im a media player classic fan, but I was just trying out GOM player(better subtitle support).

I have GOM Player as one of my video players (in addition to Media Player Classic, Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc.). It does work well with Windows 8.

I still use Media Player Classic as my main media player. But GOM Player is great for when I do transcription as it has great playback features. I can speed up and down in 0.1X increments and I can easily jump in 10, 60 and 300 second increments.
