How to put an URL on Metro?

Greetings.
I want to have an URL directly on Metro START-screen, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I can make a shortcut on the desktop as an URL, but how to do the same on Metro?

Theres an App called "Tile a File", basically it lets you create a tile on the metro UI out of ANYTHING on your system.

Or you can also use Oblytile to create them .

If you're talking about the immersive Internet Explorer app, to pin a website to the Start Screen you will need to right click within the app on the site you want to pin. Then click on the thumbtack on the bottom of the screen, and hit Pin to Start.

Sometimes, certain websites won't have the actual favicon show on the Start Screen pin. Sites like youtube and facebook and Neowin have an IE 10 immersive icon that looks real nice.

Pretty easy as long as you are using IE 10.

Thank you rmeigs, that bring the next question up then. How to use IE10 on Metro so I will be able to still use Chrome on the desktop?

As written in your link, it can be done with Chrome, but not in a pretty way.

You just want a Chrome tile on the Metro screen ?
That when you click it, Chrome opens ?

2. Change icon to your taste

No medab1, that is not what I want. I want to have an URL placed on the Metro, so when I click it, it opens a specific webpage. Look at the link in #4 in this thread.

Eksample: A tile, that when clicked, open "www.oldcars.de" in IE10 Metro-edition.

If you want to open in IE10 Metro, you have to set it as default browser. Then see post #7.

#9 look at #4 and #5 again. You are answering on a wrong thing.

Example:
On my desktop I have an icon named test.url and if I rightclick on this, I can put the web-adress in it (i.e. Microsoft Home Page | Devices and Services), but there is NO option to pin it. This is a direct .url NOT a shortcut. In Metro I want it to open in IE10 as (read link in #4) chrome can't handle tiles correctly, but I want to keep using Chrome when in desktop-mode

Hi Burgurne,

To my knowledge, there is no way to make IE 10 the default in Metro and Chrome the default on the desktop if that is your question here. I do use both, but to do so I've made IE 10 the default and then have a Chrome button on my taskbar so I can bring up Chrome in the desktop as need. As you say, not very pretty, but works. Hope I got your question right.

Right, but I suggested a shortcut that opens an URL in the default browser, and you can pin this shortcut. Here's the tool let's you pin anything WinAero: Pin to 8, if you prefer third party stuff.

This is not supported, because you can't have two different default browsers.

Problem solved (sort as).
I stop using Metro, as desktop will let me do all I want
