Win 8 booting up from external hard drive

I have an external hard drive connected to my PC via hard drive dock on USB 3.0 port. Whenever I turn my PC on with the hard drive connected, my PC won't boot up because it is trying to boot up from the external hd where I have an image of both my Win 7 & Win 8 OS. How can I stop my PC from booting up from the external hd? Thanks.

Change the boot order in bios to set your internal HD first.

I have UEFI and I don't really understand the terminologies there. I can do it with my Win 7 system (changing boot order) but Win 8 is different.

The last time I went to the UEFI bios settings was when I did a system recovery (on my Win 8 PC). My PC won't boot up so I changed the boot up sequence and set the primary boot to Windows Boot Manager. If I want to disbale USB boot up, what should I look for?

Oem have their own firmware implementations.

You might have to dig around to find out where they have hidden it - and what they called it.

Maybe there will be a clue in the manual.

It probably is. I will check when I get home. But if it is active, what does it mean? and will it affect my data if I change it?

Ok. I got this sorted out. I was right it was not a boot order issue because the first 2 primary boot sources are Windows Boot Manager and the local hard drive where the OS is. I looked around the UEFI bios settings and I found under Advanced>>>Integrated Peripherals>>>Legacy USB Support which is "Enabled" by default. I just disabled it and it's not bothering my boot up anymore. Snapshot below. Thanks for all the input everyone.

Yup, I agree. I found the culprit. Thanks!
