Sometimes when I update an OEM puter, like the eTower I updated from Vista to 7, it did a successful update but then started booting to the recovery partition for vista that was left over! At first I tried using Mini XP and Partition Wizard to hide the partition, but it kept booting to it - I finally just deleted the partition and left it as unallocated. After it booted up to Windows 7, I changed the size of the drive to use the unallocated space, and now it is fine.

I looked around the UEFI bios settings and I found under Advanced>>>Integrated Peripherals>>>Legacy USB Support which is "Enabled" by default. I just disabled it and it's not bothering my boot up anymore. Snapshot below. Thanks for all the input everyone.

Just remember this setting, because some day you may want to boot from a Flash Drive and you'd probably have to enable Legacy USB support for that to work.

Yup. I thought about that too because I also have a recovery media on USB flashdrive. Thanks!

Did you have both the installed OS and recovery partition on the same physical drive? I have all the image backups on a separate (external) hard drive. But the problem I had was that the PC kept booting up from the external hard drive. But now, it's ok.

It was on the same drive. I tried everything to prevent the partition from being seen, but even after changing drive letters using both Mini XP's Drive Manager and Partition Wizard 7.8, and hiding the partition in both programs, it would still boot to the hidden partition and I was stuck in a recovery loop. Only by un-allocating it completely did it boot to the freshly installed Windows 7/8.

If you want your image to be on the same drive and use it to refresh your PC, you could probably use this tutorial by Shawn:

Refresh Windows 8 - Create and Use Custom Recovery Image

I haven't done it yet, but I will.
