help!!windows 8 issue

Hey Guys
I recently installed the update for microsoft silverlight. Hence i asked to restart my laptop. When i restarted my laptop, i received a blue screen saying that your laptop could not re start properly. Hence i did a hard reboot and tried restarting my lappy, but i still received the same error.

So i went into the troubelshoot options and did a system refresh. This solved the issue but unfortunately uninstalled all the softwares which i installed. Could you please advise as to why this problem occurs and what is the best solution.

You need to provide more information regarding your hardware, OS and whether any other updates were installed along with Silverlight.

and installed the security update for silverlight also

Not too sure on this one, I think I'd start by going into device manager and looking for any questionable hardware. Make sure all drivers are current by updating them to the most current ones offered by your vendors download pages, rather than just the generic ones offered by Microsoft, and then see if it happens again when you update Silverlight. Make sure to create a more recent backup of your files and applications first. Good luck and let us know if you have further problems. Maybe somebody else has more insight on this than I do.

To avoid reinstalling the OS when having boot issues after updating the OS or driver, use System Restore:
1. Make sure system protection is on.
2. Create a recovery medium.

Next time this happens, boot from the recovery disk and roll back to the restore point.
