Excessive disc space being eaten up by W8 metro apps..

I have noticed that several of my streaming apps.. such as Pandora, Slacker, Radyo .. start to accumulate large chunks of space within the W8 Metro side of things.

In one instance, Radyo ( which I use for shoutcast streaming and do not actually record streams ), was up to 7.5 gb. I could find no way within that program.. or Slacker or Pandora either, to clear any data.

I used a program called Spacesniffer to locate the large chunks of data for Radyo and found it at the following location:

C:\Users\(name )\AppData\Local\Packages\25302cahitcercioglu.RADYO_ckta59gpxcwkt\AC

However, even when I navigated to that folder in explorer, I could not see the culprit files within that folder. Hidden items were checked to be visible, and properties did show that folder to be nearly 7.5GB. The only way I could delete those files, which were mainly .dat and jpegs, was to open that location within the Spacesniffer program. Then I could see the files, highlight and delete them.

I've sent my findings to the guys at Radyo to get their input.. as even since I've deleted those files which brought the program back down to around 30 mb.. it's already back up to 350 mb and growing after a day of streaming.

Since all aspects of my computer and windows metro / store are working fine, I'm puzzled by this excessive app storage space. I see where I can clear the ap store cache.. but I"m not sure if that would clear those files as well. And since my store is working fine.. I'm leary of clearing ap cache as that seems needed to be done only when you have trouble launching aps.. or updating them.

So.. anyone else care to chime in on what they're seeing?

Thanks!

Not sure if you can stop this problem from happening, but here is a way you can use to manage these pesty bugger:

Pin the folder that you have found the apps default to to your "Task Bar," so that you can open it and delete the files as needed.

I know it is not the best way, albeit it should work until you can find something better. . .Good Luck.

BTW, Welcome to the Eight Forums. . .

Well isn't that a clever way to back door access to those files. Thanks!

I was indeed able to pin that location to my start, but only through the SpaceSniffer ap.

When I navigate the traditional way through explorer...

C:\Users\(name)\AppData\Local\Packages\25302cahitcercioglu.RADYO_ckta59gpxcwkt\AC\INetCache\SYPEVDP0

When I get to the AC folder and open it up, the INetCache folder is not listed. Hidden items are ck'd to be displayed and I am logged in with admin privs. What I notice is if I ck properties on the AC Folder, it will show some file size..( presently it shows 350mb )but when I select all the files that I can see within the AC folder and ck properties on all the items I can see, they only total up to 6 mb. Those folder names are: BackgroundTransferApi, Microsoft, PRICache, and Temp btw. But that INetCache folder can't be seen and/or accessed via normal routes and is obviously eating up most of my space.

Once I found that folder via SpaceSniffer I was able to click on that sector and pin it to my start.

Still wanna know what the heck is going on... but in the meantime, I can at least clear the large chunks out.

Thanks again.
