I bought a Sony Vaio E-Series SVE17812BCXB running Windows 8. After the last major windows update that occurred in Feburary '13, the keyboard/mouse stop responding once the fully loaded splash screen is presented (With the time and date, ect).
I know the keyboard and mouse are fully functioning as I can use them when I access the boot menu before the OS is loaded. Also, only the keyboard 'functions' work when the OS is loaded, such as adjusting the brightness of the monitor (fn+F5) and such, but nothing else.
I try to do a system restore and it fails on all available restore points. I try to do a manual repair using a bootable USB drive, and it just loads windows like normal. I'm at a loss on how to get this fixed and as of right now, I purchased an $800 paper-weight.
Has this occurred for anyone else?
