Help; Backup needed.

My new (and still under warranty) windows 8 laptop keeps going to the recovery screen, error code:
0xc0000185

when i hit f8 the "winload.efi" is mentioned above the error code.

Customer support said I'm S.O.L. and need to reboot but i need to make a backup first.

Is there a way to fix this error or back up my computer?
I can make live USB's and I have a data transfer cable.

Boot from Windows 8 DVD
Choose "Repair Computer"
Choose "Advanced Options"
Open CMD
Type: sfc /scannow /offbootdir=x:\ /offwindir=x:\windows

(x = your windows drive letter)
