I'm using Asus VivoBook S400C with Windows 8.

After i start the laptop, It goes black after the ASUS logo. :(
:(

I've tried use shift+F8 to go into recovery. (sometime the shift+F8 might not work, it went black after ASUS logo)

Using troubleshoot's system restore. After minutes of waiting, system restore completed successfully and so i restart. But it went black again.

I tried automatic repair, but nothing good came out.

Tried startup setting to enable safe mode. but unfortunately, it went black after I click the restart button.

Please help me, i'm desperate, been a week... :'(
I don't want to use refresh or reset option.

Thanks.
;)

Is it Black but with a Mouse? Or just Black. It may be pending an Auto Repair, and you have to let that finish. Sometimes it takes a long time, it will stay in that black screen for 15 minutes in some cases. My Media system does this, particularly when the Drive has Errors, and until I can use the Install disk to run a Scandisk from Command Prompt, it never gets past that black screen.

The other Black screen with Mouse usually shows up after you see your Skydrive Login, instead of showing your Lockscreen, it goes black with a mouse. But even in that state, I was able to pull up Task Manager and run an In-Place install. Try a scandisk from either an Install DVD or a Hiren's Boot Disk, from MiniXP, see if you got Disk errors. Ive had numerous Errors with Windows 8, and it all comes back to the disk needing to be scanned.

Thanks for your reply,

Is is all black, is like backlight black, it is on, but nothing came out, no mouse icon.
the only one way i can switch off the laptop is by press and hold the power button.
this laptop's battery is fix inside, and don't have a disk-rom.
just right after the ASUS logo, it is all black, can't see windows's logo, so i assume it is a windows problem.
i can't do anything without access to any boot menu or recovery.
i search through all the black screen problem on net and also how to access windows 8 recovery menu. but nothing come in handy.
i'm so down.

I am having the same problem. But it goes through the startup process with the screen working and everything. Then when I type in my password it won't load the desktop. It's a black screen with cursor and I can open task manager. Windows was in the middle of an update at the time. Maybe that's what's wrong with it. I have the same comp as juszhiro. No disk drive, battery hard to access. Does anyone know what to do?
