    Windows 8 WMC regedit question

Hi I finally decided to make a account after lurking here for a bit, but I just have a quick question to anyone who has the Windows 8 with windows media center pack. I was going back to just the w8pro following this tutorial

Media Center - Remove and Go Back to Windows 8 Pro

since when i put my wmc product key deactivated my copy. So I edited the 2 files in regedit and thought wait why not try the phone activation and i got it activated. So now I want to edit the two files and put them how they were but i forgot what they were before. Can anyone with windows 8 with wmc check the names for EditionID and ProductName please and thanks in advance.

Yow! If I ever have to do any Reg manipulating like that, I ALWAYS save the original keys, you can back them up and then re-merge them later.

EditionID says "ProfessionalWMC" but I'm running Pro with Media Center, ProductName is "Windows 8 Pro with Media Center"

Without Media Center, ProductName becomes "Windows 8 Pro" and EditionID is just "Professional" - Assumeing you had Windows 8 Pro installed.

Thank you very much, yeah i was going to downgrade(since when i entered the wmc key it got deactivated) but I just did the phone activation after editing the reg keys and it worked.(didn't even think of backing them up) thanks again though.

Couldn't you have used Add Programs and Features, Turn Windows features on or off to remove WMC?

Also, just curious why you wanted to remove WMC? Was it causing problems?

All you needed to do was run the activation again, I think. It would have automatically re-activated, or, you would have to do the Phone activation, with the new Key from WMC. So you would have had two keys, both valid, but your new key would be the WMC key.

This issue came up in another thread, the one about Legality issues, its floating around in here, read it.

I just installed Windows RP on my Asus 1015 PX Netbook. I have heard of programs for Windows 7 that allow you to raise the resolution to 1152x864, but I have been unable to find one for Windows 8. I was wondering if there was a way to raise the screen resolution in the registry.
