Hi Tpm1001, welcome to the Eight Forums.
To create a new file with
Notepad with other than
.txt extension:
Select Save As in Notepad File menu
In File name , type the name and extension you want to
In Save as type , select All Files from the drop down list
To change a file extension in File Explorer:
Browse to folder where your file is located
Select the View tab
Enable showing file name extensions
Right click the file, select Rename , change extension as you wish
