Hi,

Anyone out there who knows if its possible to create an expandable folder shortcut in i.e. "Computer" toolbar?

This is a shortcut in my "Computer" toolbar, it's not expandable:

This is a regular folder in the same toolbar, it's expandable:

Hello Rene, and welcome to Eight Forums.

I'm not sure what you mean. It looks like you already created an expandable "Computer" toolbar.

Only folders or drives will be expandable in the "Computer" toolbar. Files will not be.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I can see how this can be confusing. Yes, the "Computer" toolbar is expandable, but I am thinking of the folders in the "Computer" toolbar. In the first screenshot, you can see that folder (witch is a shortcut) named "Thorstein" is not expandable. If this would have been a regular folder (not shortcut to target folder), it would have been expandable.

If you notice in the second screenshot, the folder "Steam" is expandable, seeing that it's not a shortcut.

So to sum up, I would like to have the shortcut folder "Thorstein" to be expandable.

I see now.

Shortcuts, even of folders, are considered to be files, so that's why it's not expandable.

The only way to make it expandable is to move the actual "Thorstein" folder to that location instead of using a shortcut. :(

I suspected as much. It's really not a big deal, but would have been nice to have that folder expandable, since the target folder is in my SkyDrive dir. Thanks for your help nonetheless, much appreciated! :)

So, no one knows if anything like this is possible in Windows 8?
