Not really, just more convenient with a button to show "All Apps" as you can do when right click on start screen then click the icon on bottom right.

    Additions are:
    1. you can resize the tile to 1/4 the original size so you can pin more on the start screen
    2. edit the group title in place.
    3. Split screen 50/50 and depend on your display resolution. Mine is 1920X1200, so I can only put 3 on each monitor. With dual monitor will give 6.
    4. With dual monitor, The start screen/All apps will stay visible.

Yes I agree. It's more convenient to see all apps like that.

One thing I'm finding GREAT on the latest build (x-64 build 9369) is the little button at the bottom of the START screen.

Forget the stupid metro tiles etc -- just click the button and it lists ALL the apps and then you can optionally have these sorted by Install date or Most used.

This in some situations obviates any need for going directly to the desktop -- you can just click on your desired application and run it. - This would suggest to me that the Desktop as a separate application is destined for the Bin sooner rather than later.

I would perhaps like a little more selections in the APP sort screen but if you don't have gazillions of apps it's actually quite useable.

Here's what I mean -- two screenshots enc.

And of course the search window is open if you want to type a specific thing -- say W* for example if you can't quickly see Ms Word for example.

If Ms keep on a bit with this it *might* just possibly morph into something quite useable.

Isn't this a feature from the very beginning? When you right click anywhere on the start screen, you will get that "All Apps" button on a "taskbar" below.

I think I saw that the default Start Screen arrangement on the leaked build has the Desktop tile as double huge, and seems to have fewer apps than the RTM....

Honestly, if the items that were on the start menu were on the Start Screen, there would be less disruption. Click the lower left corner, you have what the start menu had in a larger format. Even with the smaller tiles, you could stick a BUNCH of stuff onto it now with less screen estate being used.
