Hello,

I have Windows 8 Pro (64bit) and I have 1,904 fonts installed... It was working fine until one day some of the Windows fonts have been changed to different ones. Is there any way to reset the fonts installed? Since this is getting very annoying

Thanks so much -Jack

Hello Jack,

If you like, you could do a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this happened to hopefully undo and fix this.

Hope this helps, :)

Hey there Brink,

Sadly there isn't a restore point dating as far enough back to do this. Is there a way to reset the Fonts folder?

Thanks
Jack

Just to be clear, is this for Windows or Office?

If Windows, did you change the fonts, or installed some sort of custom skin or theme that changed the fonts? If so, then you could run a sfc /scannow command to restore the default files.

If Office, then which program?

I have installed custom fonts into Windows, and they appear in all of my programs. Also the Windows GUI is fine, those fonts are default

Thanks

Well, a quick way to restore everything back to default would be to refresh Windows 8, but you would have to reinstall all desktop type programs again afterwards.

I don't really fancy installing all of my programs again, would Windows 7 fonts work; if I was to get the copy of the segoe font (since that font is fine)

Thanks

Since only programs are using the new fonts, are you able to set the program using it's settings to select to use the Segoe font from within the "C:\Windows\Fonts" folder?

I can't seem to find that option in Office 2013 Professional Plus, but even if I was to do this my font (and many other Windows ones) would still be not be normal again...

Well, in Word 2013, you can select the font to use from within the Home tab in the ribbon like below, and also adjust it's "Style". You will be able to select a font included in Windows 8 as well.
