If you have access to another computer go to the hitman pro site. They have the information on how to install their software on a flashdrive. My daughter had this happen to her on vista laptop. I don't know if it works with windows 8, but it's worth a try.

When the computer company's logo showed up, I held shift and spam clicked the F8 key until a blue troubleshoot page came up. I went to reset, and reset it.

If you can remove your hard drive to scan it in another system, you should do that if you can't boot. I always keep a SATA ready for hotswap when that happens. Thanks for the heads up on this virus.

Reset? Did you mean system recovery?
If it is a virus (and depending how bad the virus is), it's going to stay in your computer unless you perform a complete system recovery which will totally wipeout your hd, reinstall your OS and start fresh again. Windows 8 also have a refresh option which is like system recovery/restore without deleting your personal account info but will not get rid of persistent virus.
