Solved Primary Platforms

I have just installed a Canon MG6350 printer/scanner and, in general, all works well. The exception is that when trying to use the Canon "Quick Menu" I get an error message that says" No Primary Platform installed" and then refers to a missing "pkg" file. Before this message there is a quick glimpse referring to a Visual Basic screen from Visual Basic 6. Visual Basic 6 is not supported by Windows 8 and was , I hoped, removed to install Windows 8. Can anyone tell me what primary platform is needed and what "pgk" file do I need. Thank You

Did you get the latest driver from the Canon web site?

See here: Pixma 6320

It's for the 6320 but the driver is for the 6300 family so should be the right one.

Go to DLL-FILES.com and download VB 6: MSVBVM60.DLL

Copy it to your system folder, then it should work. It's not part of Windows 7 either, so I've had to install it by hand there as well.

I don't know if that site still exists, but there should be some DLL repositories on line where you can download that file.

Here's the link. I guarantee is your Canon program uses VB 6, this WILL fix it,

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
Thank you to those who responded to my problem. The suggestions did not actually help as the problem was very deep seated. I had to resort to Windows refresh procedure which cleared the problem. Again, I most grateful for the help.
