Yes. Copies will remain on your skydrive if you download them. However, if you have the skydrive app installed on your PC, it will automatically sync with your skydrive on cloud and you can treat this app just like a regular folder where you can save, share, move or copy files in and out of it.
Upload is when you want to put files on your skydrive. After clicking it, you have the option to drag and drop files into it or just do manual browse to get to the file that you want to upload.

I selected one photo for a trial & selected 'Download'. But the window that came up was asking me to choose. And the only two things to choose was 'Documents' & 'Clear.fi'. I want to transfer the pictures to 'My Pictures'.

Acer user huh.
Anyways, cleaf.fi I think still goes to specific folder (Pictures, Videos, etc.). That is Acer's digital app for media and it sorts the files automatically. Just check if you have a clear.fi folder under each media type.

It's better to use iCloud, you can sync iCloud to Skydrive to your Device. If you can get em (your pics) into iCloud, you can browse your Photo Stream as if it is part of your Hard Drive, after installing the iCloud control panel. I don't think you even need an Apple device to set up an iCloud account, just use your Apple account, the one you use to taunt Apple users on the Support Forums over there. You can create an iCloud email address and from there, that meager storage. Then you can tell Skydrive to sync your pics into Photostream, and from Photostream, right into my Puter.

That's what I do, but I don't know how in blazes I set it all up, it just made itself. I just kept syncing my apps to both iCloud and Skydrive so now it ups my pics to Photostream regardless of what app they originated from.
